Prime Solar and Prime Infra Foundation launched a training program in Maragondon, Cavite to strengthen farmers’ capabilities in the cultivation and product development of bamboo, enabling more livelihood opportunities.
Maragondon, Cavite’s “bamboo capital”, is known for its bamboo products and weaving industry. Though the municipality has long been engaged in the cultivation of bamboo, its government acknowledges the need to upskill locals and improve utilization and selling of the said natural resource.
Twenty-five participants, consisting of male and female farmers, are undergoing the month-long training which kicked off last February 6 in Barangay Pantihan II, Maragondon, Cavite. Participants will be equipped with best practices in bamboo cultivation, harvesting, processing, product development, and marketing of bamboo-based products.
Present during the kick-off were Maragondon Councilor Miguel Arca, Municipal Administrative Officer Noah Caasi, Philippine Bamboo Foundation President Edgardo Manda, Terra Verde Ecofarm President Ericson Atanacio, and Prime Infra Foundation Community Affairs Manager Gloidan Papas.
“Through this initiative, we aim to support the residents of Maragondon with more opportunities that help improve their overall quality of life,” the Foundation said.
Prime Solar supplies up to 128-megawatts of clean and renewable energy from its solar power plants located in Maragondon, Cavite and Tanauan, Batangas.
Prime Infra Foundation is the corporate social arm of Prime Infra committed to empowering host communities with programs that help address their needs and drive sustainable growth.
